Spring is in the air

YEAH, finally out in the sunshine and the dirt! I need to add an item to my diaper bag/purse/mini fridge, yesterday Evan got a splinter at the park. So I guess I need to start carrying around some kind of first aid stuff. Evan already loves bandages! He wants them put on everything. But yesterday when he got that splinter, ouch that one hurt. I remember by mom digging splinters out of my fingers or feet, never any fun. And the more you squirm, the bigger it seems to be! But we are happy to be outside again. They were outside a lot yesterday, when I finally got them in the tub, Nick was nodding off, he was so tired. I wish we had an outdoor shower, so I could just hose them off before they come in the house!!! All Boy!

Little Nicky

Here is Nick in Guatemala one year ago and here he is now in our living room. The hat was from our pick up trip and Nick wears it around the house now, too funny.

Looking way back ...

I remember this day like it was yesterday. It was July 19, 2005 about 6:45 a.m. We were getting Evan dressed to take back to the foster family. They were already in the lobby of the hotel. I was trying not to cry. I was crying, but trying to hold it together to not scare Evan. We spent 3 glorious days just looking at him, holding him, watching him sleep and trying to figure him out. I think back to how naive we were, In love, but naive. So happy we took all those pictures of our beautiful first born!

Summer is almost here.

Does this say summer time or what?

It is kinda chilly today, the boys are both napping. We went to MOPS today in MC. I told them that if there was no crying or screaming when I dropped them off, that we would go to McDonalds afterwards. Evan totally gets it. Nick normally cries as soon as I start to park at the church. But today he kinda whimpered when I took him out of his car seat and then he was fine all the way down the hall. Evan was just chatting away. So I sat Nick down to take off his coat and he didn't cry. Evan was already headed for the door for his class, saying 'goodbye mommy'. The lady that always takes Nick came up and greeted him right away. I got his coat off and their name tags done and he was in her arms. I wish I would of had a camera for the look on his face. He was trying hard not to cry, but you could tell he was just ready to bust out. So I went back after class and the ladies told me how good he was ... ahhh. What a great feeling. Then we went to McDonalds ... eeek. Every mom, dad, grandparent, whatever was at McDonalds today. CRAZY.

Go Chubbies

Well it is another season for the Cubs. Took this photo on opening day, the boys had to have their outfits on, for Mike of course. I think this photo says it all, Evan thinks like daddy and this will be the year for the Cubs. Nick already knows, it will be a long year and lots of heartache.

This morning I had the boys in the tub upstairs and I was trying to get some laundry folded. So I had the Today show on. Evan was in the tub yelling 'my show, my show.' Nope mommy gets to watch her show for a change. So after the Today show, Regis and Kelly come on. By this time Nick is out of the tub, dressed sitting on the bed drinking milk and eating dry Cheerios. So I have Evan on the bed and starting to get him dressed when Regis and Kelly come out. Except it is not Kelly, she is on vacation or something, so it is Regis's wife Joy. Evan says, 'where is Kelly?' Cracked me up. I don't even get the remote anymore and he knows Kelly and Oprah!
